Our guest speaker is Rev. Dr. Karoline Lewis

Her Story:

We are so blessed to have Rev. Dr. Karoline Lewis as our guest speaker this year!   She is a lively Luther Seminary Professor who is passionate about the book of John.   Her newest book is SHE: Five Keys to Unlock the Power of Women in Ministry (Abingdon, March 2016).

Ordained in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, Lewis holds degrees from Northwestern University (B.A.), Luther Seminary (M.Div.), and Emory University (Ph.D., New Testament Studies and Homiletics).  Lewis regularly leads conferences, workshops, and retreats throughout the country and Canada on interpreting the Bible, preaching, and women in ministry. She is a contributing writer for WorkingPreacher.org, author of the site’s Dear Working Preacher column, and co-host of the site’s weekly podcast, Sermon Brainwave that you will learn much from.

CLASSES:

PIYO Loree Valek: Looking for a fun workout? PIYO is inspired by yoga & Pilates.  In PIYO you create your own resistance and define your body with high intensity low impact moves-you will sweat, stretch & strengthen your body.

Necklace w/Locket Terinee Stangler: We do not earn Grace, but are given it as a gift.  Sometimes we need a reminder that we did nothing to deserve it.  To help us remember, we will be making necklaces with lockets on them.  The locket is to remind us that no matter what we keep hidden inside, God still loves us deeply and helps us as we carry our burdens.

Zentangle Doodling: Sandy Valek: Zentangle is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. Anyone can use it to create beautiful images. It increases focus and creativity, provides artistic satisfaction along with an increased sense of personal well being.  It’s been called, “Yoga for the Brain”.

Advanced Knitting/Cables & Colors: Kim Smisek: If you’ve mastered the knit and purl stitches and are ready to move into adding color and cables to your knit projects, this class is for you! We’ll make a knit piece to wrap around a candle.

Succulent Grace Planter: Karen Marshall: Create a beautiful planter filled with succulents. Our favorite gardener will guide you through repurposing a cans with decorative  paper and words of grace.  Have garden questions?  Not sure how to care for succulents? Karen is an expert and will be happy to answer your questions.

Essential Oils & You! Christi Ryburn: Back by popular demand!! Join Christy from Young-Living as she teaches you about the many ways essential oils can be incorporated into your daily life for relaxing, sleeping and cleaning. Choose between a relaxing bath salt or a non-toxic cleaner to take home

Fun with Fondue   Mary Miland: Fondue is great way to bring people together, either for an entire meal, just an appetizer or a sweet ending to a special celebration. In this workshop you will learn make 3 different types fondues. Side dishes, dipping sauces and proper etiquette for a fondue will also be discussed. Yum!

Scandinavian Baking Kim Smisek: Ya, sure, ya betcha, we’ll be baking up some Krumkake, Sandbakkels & Rosettes!
